Buttered Popcorn (The Great Drishyam Rewatch (Again!) 🍿)

The Great Drishyam Rewatch (Again!) 🍿

It was a cold winter evening. The kind where socks feel like a hug, and soup just makes you feel like a functional adult. But not tonight. Tonight was not about function. It was about drama. And not just any drama—Drishyam, again, for what was allegedly the 100th time. (Unofficial count: 137.)

My husband—let’s call him “The Patient One”—was already wearing his “It’s Movie Night and I Have No Say” hoodie. He knew the drill. Lights off. Popcorn mountain. Blankets shaped like burritos. And me, sitting at the edge of the sofa as if Ajay Devgn might finally blink first in that interrogation scene.

Now, this wasn’t just a movie night. It was a ceremony. Popcorn flavors were taken very seriously. We had caramel (for emotional support), cheese (for dramatic tension), and plain salted (for credibility).

“Should we try something new tonight?” he asked cautiously, eyeing the remote and his freedom.

“Yeah,” I said dramatically, “let’s rewind and rewatch the scene where he times the exact minute to visit the cable guy.”

He sighed. “You’re that person.”

Guilty as charged, Your Honor.

Halfway through the movie, just as Tabu’s character narrowed her eyes in glorious suspicion, I paused the screen and whispered, “You know, I still think the police missed one clue.”

“Please don’t become a YouTube theorist,” he begged, mouth full of popcorn.

The dog had taken his post at the foot of the couch, eyes fixated on the buttered kernels. Even he knew this was tradition. Somewhere, my phone lit up with a WhatsApp message: Again? from a friend who clearly lacked vision.

By the time the movie ended (again), I was in tears, he was asleep, and the dog had eaten an entire bowl of cheese popcorn. And as the credits rolled, I leaned over and whispered:

“Same time next week?”

He mumbled, half-asleep, “Only if we get choco-chip ice cream this time…”

🎬 Moral of the story: Winter nights are for fuzzy socks, food comas, and the eternal truth that no matter how many times you watch Drishyam, you’ll still get goosebumps.

What are you watching this weekend? 😎
