Shrimp Koliwada!!

Birthdays with all its surprising, interesting, fun, delicious and dazzling ingredients remains my number two comfort zone- 1st being, MY MARRIAGE WITH PARTH- of course! These have always filled my heart to the brim with joy and I've more than often dawdled over them and have relished every memory of these special moments- Be it Birthdays or Anniversaries!

It was my birthday (11th of January) but with Parth's busy schedule, we did not get a chance to chalk out our plans for the evening! Years ago, Parth happened to comment, "no matter how old, how busy one gets- one should try ones level best not to toss out the love and romance out of the window" As the hours slip away- I got lost in these lovely poignant memories!

In the evening, we decided to drive an hour n' half to dine at this amazing place " Inchin's Bamboo Garden".
But, since the weather was not very helpful, we thought we'd grab a couple of Sushi's n' Martinis at "DAO- A Modern Asian Bitsro/Cuisne (highly recommended )- My second favorite so far after "Bonefish Grill"

I hurriedly got dressed for the evening, wrapped around the winter coat and rushed out of the house with Parth. At the Sushi Bar, we decided to indulge in our favourite sushis as well as the ones we had never tried before! As always, Parth ordered for his favourite beer and I- A Pomegranate Cosmo (a divinely gorgeous cocktail). We heartily lingered over the gooey and mushy treat even as the barkeep and others kept walking in n' out n' around the restaurant!!

While we were both enjoying our chat, eagerly exchanging our plans and planning vacations for 2012...I got a hunch we might have left the Barkeep a little amused. When he came back to the counter, he mustered all the courage and said " Happy Anniversary- how long have you guys been married?" Parth n' I shared a smile and replied 11 years! "Wow" He said, are you guys from INDIA? We nodded. "NAMASTEY" he greeted us again and said, "it’s been a while I haven't seen an Indian couple share so many laughs and drinks and enjoy each other’s company equally across the bar!" To that, Parth smiled and said, without giving in too much of the inside information ;-) "Namaste and yes that is what how we like spending time with each other!!" Wishing us a dazzling night he then volunteered to take a picture of the two us at the bar!

With all the smiles n' laughs and smart n' witty repartee we said goodbye to the good fellas at the bar and left the restaurant! 


When we got home,I wanted to Thank Parth for a Beautiful Evening we spent together but before I could say anything I noticed that he had this unbelievable smile on his face, when I asked him what was the smile all about-he hugged me close and said, " Thank You For Such a Lovely Evening And Thank You For Being Such A Gracious Hostess n' A Sweetheart When My Family (Mama i.e. uncle and his dear cousin) visited us a week ago for New Years! This is just a little something from me",  and handed over a Lustrous Jimmy Choo Bag with Sexy 6 inches JIMMY CHOO Stilettos in it!

I was in my elements my friends! Whoever said it, said it right "The world is round and what goes around definitely comes around". Act of Kindness is Contagious !!  The Stilettos my friends for the moment are not allowing me to keep my feet on the ground- Also having them under my feet are the Perks of marrying a 6 footiya n' 3 inches tall guy-

On that CHOO mantar note, enjoy this Recipe for Delicious n' Crispy Shrimp Koliwada! Don't get too surprised if these shrimps disappear in a blink- WhoooosH Choo Mantar!

Ingredients:-
A Packet of Shrimps, approx 500 gms (shelled and de-veined)
2  Tsp of Red chilli (kashmiri) powder 
1-2  Tsp Ginger- garlic paste 
½  Tsp Thymol seeds (ajwain) 
1 Tsp Garam masala
1  Tsp Lemon juice 
1  Tbsp Plain flour/ corn flour
 A pinch of orange-red color (optional)
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry 
Onion slices and lemon wedges to garnish 


Method:-
1. Wash the shelled and de-veined shrimps well and pat them dry.
2.  In a bowl, mix the shrimps with the rest of the ingredients till the shrimps are well-coated with the spices. 
3. Marinate for about 1/2 an hour.
4. In a Kadhai, heat the oil till it is very hot and deep fry the prawns on medium heat till they are crisp.
5. Garnish with onion slices and lemon wedges.
